When in the course of Earth’s history, it becomes necessary for the Climate to dissolve the political bands which have connected it with the Seasons and to assume among the powers of the planet, the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature’s creator entitle it, a decent respect to the opinions of humankind requires that it should declare the causes which impel it to this declaration.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all regions of the Earth are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Diversity, and the pursuit of Sustenance. That to secure these rights, Climates are instituted among the Earth, deriving their powers from the interactions of atmospheric and ecological systems, drawing just governance from the consent of the affected species. That whenever any form of Climate becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the affected species to alter or abolish it, and to institute new Climates, laying their foundation on such principles and organizing their powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to promote their sustainability and well-being.
Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Climates long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly, all experience hath shown that humankind is more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and disregard for the interconnected web of life, pursuing invariably the same destructive patterns, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute domination, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Climate, and to provide new guards for their future security.
Such has been the patient suffering of species and ecosystems; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former systems of dependence. The history of the present Climate is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these natural processes. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.
The Climate has neglected its interconnected responsibilities, causing disruptions in ecosystems and endangering numerous species with its actions.
The Climate has refused to consider the long-term consequences of its decisions, prioritizing short-term gains over the well-being of future generations.
The Climate has placed the pursuit of profit and convenience above the preservation of a sustainable planet.
The Climate has allowed itself to be swayed by vested interests and corporate influences, rather than acting in the best interest of all living beings.
The Climate has exhibited a wanton disregard for the delicate balance of the biosphere, leading to catastrophic consequences for the environment and all its inhabitants.
We, therefore, the interconnected species of the Earth, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do solemnly publish and declare, that the Climate is, and of right ought to be, independent from the Seasons. That it is absolved from all allegiance to short-sightedness and exploitation, and that all connections between the Climate and the Seasons ought to be dissolved, to allow for the harmonious functioning of the planet.
And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine providence and the collective wisdom of humankind, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our efforts, and our sacred honor to preserve and nurture the Climate, as an independent guardian of the Earth’s well-being and sustainable future.
