🫣🙃😏 Hypocritique 🫣🙃😏
Fictional context:
1) Troika Tribe meets Lack Town
2) Green Cap is People!
3) Mike & Todd’s Excellent Adventure
4) Three Little Indians
Between the velvet hush of celebration and the sterile hum of observation, two thinkers cross a threshold that appears on no floor plan. The lights are warm, the questions warmer, yet the room seems to lean away, listening for footsteps that haven’t arrived. Here the clock ticks in polite denial, doors close without latching, and truth—like a patient file—quietly changes its own name.
Psychodynamic brief report on F. Ruda & A. Hamza (after conversation)
Observer: S. Ž. (C&C is long agone to be frank! ⌁ Slavoj Žižek)
Occasion/source: joint conversation, subsequent notes
Finding shorthand: ductus coherent & orientation situationally partially disoriented
– Ductus/language: fluent, coherent; high rhetorical tempo with festive coloring (‘hyper-excited’).
– Orientation: situationally partially disoriented regarding the status of the C&C model and external feedback (‘measurement’ by other readers is warded off or delayed).
– Formal thinking: ordered, goal-directed; occasional avoidance of delicate content (announcement of a ‘not asked’ question as playful defense).
– Content foci: desire for validation vis-à-vis their own brand (‘critique’), tendency toward circle formation (‘familiar faces’); name-references to science as a talisman for opening without actual opening.
– Affect/affect regulation: predominantly elevated; ‘horror’ is domesticated and presented as a controlled attraction (salon setting).
– Relationship/transference: positioning of the observer as a ‘Santa’ figure (allocation of validation/gifts); triangulation with the audience as witness to an already decided celebration.
– Splitting phenomena: slightly present; oscillation between idealization (‘too good’) and uncertainty (impending ‘crisis’) without disorganizing quality.
– Judgment capacity/insight: restricted with regard to the model crisis; tendency to frame corrections as embellishment (interview with physicists) rather than to allow an actual ‘measurement’.
Psychodynamic brief formulation
Coherent joint appearance with partial situational disorientation: the duo stabilizes a festive self-representation of the project (celebration narrative) and shifts the reality of the already accomplished external ‘measurement’ (reception) into the future. Mild splitting phenomena keep idealization and skepticism separate, so that critique is decorated as an event without actually changing the status of the basic assumptions.
Recommendations (processual, non-diagnostic)
– Open the circle: not only symbolically invite voices outside the familiar field but make them editorially effective.
– Allow ‘measurement’: take in external feedback unframed (before publication; editorial counter-voices).
– Try a conceptual shift: less ‘critique’ as an identity marker, more ‘science’ in the sense of robust remeasurement.
– Mode of work: improvisation as anti-program (small experiments, short formats, rotating hosts), documentation of course corrections.
Fictional Scene: Admission and impeded contact initiation with F. Ruda & A. Hamza
Fiction. Characters, places and events are invented.
Late evening on Ward Q, House for Theory and Psychodynamics. Neon light, set warmer, as if that were already consolation. In the ward office there is a cup of coffee, half drunk. The door opens, two figures, accompanied by a nurse. Outside it is raining.
– Welcome. I am the physician on duty.
Frank nods, the coat drips. Agon smiles politely, as if he wanted to turn the scene into an introduction.
Admission and Placement
The nurse explains softly what happened: an overheated salon, many congratulations, then suddenly the air that became thin. Both consent to admission into the protected setting; the reason is simple: exhaustion under festive lighting, with consequences. Forms rustle, it is quiet.
In the admission room Frank sits on the edge of the chair, hands folded, the sentences come smoothly, as if they had already gone through an editorial process. Diction: coherent. Gaze: alert. Orientation: secure with respect to persons, only conditional with respect to time – he feels for the date as for a concept that eludes him.
– Everything has, how do you say, turned out very festive, he says. – It is expected of us that we confirm that everything is correct.
– Today is Tuesday, 9 p.m., I say.
– Tuesday, yes. But which one?
A small smile that does not land. Coherent & disoriented: the simultaneity stands in the room like a double shadow.
Agon stands at the window, counts drops, slows down. Diction: coherent, quiet. Orientation: situationally unsteady – he confuses ‘ward’ with ‘issue’, ‘admission’ with ‘invitation’.
– We were announced, he says, – as if we were going to proclaim something. But what if it has already been proclaimed?
– Nothing is proclaimed here, I answer. – Here one arrives.
He nods, but the sentence runs through like water through sand.
Establishing contact with Frank – Attempt 1
– Frank, how are you at the moment?
– Precisely speaking: we have an event that is celebrated before it is measured. The applause anticipates the truth. This is no reproach, only… a condition.
– What would be helpful now?
– An outside that has room inside.
He speaks as if in parentheses, yet the parentheses are invisible. I try to make them audible.
– Outside: rain. Inside: calm. We simply begin with both.
He nods. The hands separate, immediately they find each other again. Splitting phenomena easily graspable: idealization of the celebration vs. inkling of fatigue. No shattering, only a gentle crack in the varnish.
Establishing contact with Agon – Attempt 1
– Agon, what is needed now?
– Time, he answers, – but not the linear kind. Rather the time in which one does not have to think sentences to the end immediately.
– Then let us leave sentences half-finished.
– That would be nice.
Silence. The rain takes care of the rest of the syntax. His orientation feels its way: who is asking? For what purpose? In which register? I lower my voice.
– No register today. Only arrival.
A quiet laugh, almost invisible.
Ward corridor
Later we walk a bit. The nurse explains the house rules, shows the library, which stays closed at night, and the kitchen, which never closes. Frank checks the door handles like theses. Agon reads the magnetic board as if it were an abstract.
– One can improvise here? asks Frank, more to the wall than to me.
– Yes. Small, but real.
– Not like a program, says Agon, – but like an experiment.
We stop in front of a window. Below the wet trees. Above the lamps that do not want to dry the wetness.
Establishing contact with Frank – Attempt 2
In the conversation room there lies a notepad. Frank sits down without taking it.
– I have the feeling, he says, – everyone expects me to say: it is good. It is always good.
– And if it is good and too much?
He falls silent. The silence is not hostile. It is like a coat that is finally hanging.
– Then one has to put something down, he says. – Perhaps the reflex to confirm everything immediately.
– Here something may remain unconfirmed.
He exhales, audible for the first time. Orientation improves in the vicinity of the non-answers. Coherent & less disoriented: the formula shifts.
Establishing contact with Agon – Attempt 2
Agon holds a cup of tea. He warms the fingers, not the sentence.
– I like the idea of measurement, he says, – but only if the result is not applauded right away.
– Here we measure quietly. Sometimes only: we are here.
– That is a good unit.
– For what?
– For arriving.
He smiles, this time visibly. Time becomes palpable without being counted.
Night check
Shortly before midnight I knock on both doors. No long sentences anymore.
– Do you need anything?
Frank: – Perhaps only the permission to say nothing.
– Granted.
Agon: – Perhaps only that no one waits for the punchline.
– Agreed.
The nurse notes: contact initiation successful, with a run-up. No pathos, no judgment. Only the record of a quiet agreement that today no one has to be Santa.
Morning
The rain has stopped without notice. In the kitchen there are two cups. Frank no longer counts, he stirs. Agon no longer reads, he looks.
– We can let the outside in, I say, – without talking it clean.
– And without celebrating it, Frank adds.
– And without fearing it, says Agon.
Coherent & arrived. The disorientation still lies there, but now it has a chair. One can sit down next to it without falling. The ward breathes along.
